How Client-Side Image & PDF Processing Works in ImageWizo

ImageWizo performs supported file processing locally in your browser. When you select a photo or PDF file:

1. Local Memory Buffer

The file is loaded directly into an ArrayBuffer or Blob URL within your device RAM. Your selected files are processed locally rather than uploaded to an ImageWizo processing server.

2. HTML5 Canvas & WebAssembly

Image resampling, pixel manipulations, and PDF byte streams are transformed using your device's native CPU and GPU graphics pipelines.

3. Direct Sandboxed Export

Your browser encodes the final binary file and triggers an immediate local download. Once you navigate away, memory references are disposed.

Choosing the Right Image Format: JPG vs. PNG vs. WebP

Selecting the ideal output format is critical for balancing visual quality and download speed. Here is how our supported formats compare:

JPG / JPEG

Best For: Standard digital photos, social media posts, and print galleries.

Pros & Cons: Universal device compatibility and excellent lossy compression. Does NOT support transparency.

PNG

Best For: Logos, website icons, UI mockups, diagrams, and sharp text screenshots.

Pros & Cons: Lossless quality and full alpha transparency support. Produces larger file sizes for complex photos.

WebP

Best For: Modern web publishing, mobile applications, and ecommerce catalogs.

Pros & Cons: Can often be smaller depending on image content, format, dimensions and quality settings. Supports both transparency and high compression.

Common Real-World Use Cases for ImageWizo

Website Performance

Compress hero images, convert banners to WebP, and ensure mobile landing pages achieve high Core Web Vitals scores.

Job & Visa Applications

Crop portrait photos to standard passport ratios, compress resume PDFs below government upload limits, and convert scans.

Ecommerce & Marketplaces

Remove distracting product backgrounds, stamp branded watermarks, and batch-resize catalog pictures for online stores.

Archival & Family Scans

Invert 35mm film negatives into positive photographs, adjust color cast tints, and combine multiple scan files into single PDF records.

Technical Considerations for Client-Side Performance

Device Memory Allocation

Because all tasks process in your browser sandbox, very large image batches or hundreds of PDF pages rely on your device's available RAM. For best responsiveness on mobile devices, process files in batches of 10 to 20 items.

Local Processing Helps Keep File Metadata Off ImageWizo Processing Servers

File processing occurs locally in your browser rather than being sent to an ImageWizo processing server.
